Building Resilient Communities Through Empowerment
Kaaliye Community and Development Organization (KACDO) is an independent, registered non-governmental and nonprofit civil society organization based in Somalia. Its purpose is capacity building and service delivery for deprived and marginalized communities.
2023
The beginning
A shared commitment to community development
In 2023, a group of educated, dynamic and like-minded young people working in the development sector came together to address urgent community needs. They established Kaaliye Community and Development Organization, bringing their development experience to the challenges facing underserved communities.
An approach that connects sectors
KACDO’s focus extends across different geographical areas and sectors. Its interventions include education, health and hygiene, youth and women’s empowerment, emergency response and preparedness, governance, free legal aid and human rights.
Activities range from capacity building to service delivery, with a continued focus on deprived and marginalized groups.
Community participation at the centre
KACDO works to involve local people when initiating activities at grassroots level and to mobilize women in support of peace, tolerance and development. The organization draws on the networks and development-sector experience of its members.
